Reggae music is a type of genre that started out in Jamaica in the later 1960’s. This particular music style was discovered during “Ska” (the first type of music close to this genre) and “Rocksteady” (Jamaican vocal harmony formed after the Ska music movement).
Reggae was made in the style of Latin American music, African music, (R & B) Rhythm and Blues, and other genres, as well. It is played in swing time( or 4/4 (how many of the beats are in each measure)
